Annually, Cisco provides a Snort Scholarship to two individuals selected at random (by drawing) in the amount of $5000 US for higher education purposes.
To be eligible, you must meet the legal criteria found here on our website (at the bottom), sign up for the scholarship here, and following that, on or about July 10, 2015, two winners will be selected.

After a lot of hard work by our teams, and with RSA just a few days away, we are proud to announce that along with Cisco and Sourcefire's corporate teams being present at RSA, and for the first time we will also be holding an Open Source Community Meeting!
Matt Watchinski (Director of the Vulnerability Research Team) and myself, Joel Esler, (Open Source Manager) will be presenting on the state of our Open Source projects at Sourcefire, the state of Open Source now that we are Cisco, some future developments and of course, open Q&A!
So here's some attendance details:

Open Source Fact and Fiction: Sourcefire Stays True To Its Roots
Alan Shimel writes a great article about our new product FireAMP, and it's roots, not only with ClamAV but many other OpenSource technologies. It's a quick read, but really shows what we are trying to do here at Sourcefire and how OpenSource is not only the foundation of our products, but really, is baked into everything that we do here.

Christoph Murauer, one of the many ClamAV and Snort users in the community has written Snort User guides for Lion which we've linked to before over on the Snort blog.
This time Christoph has written a guide for using ClamXav and ClamAV on OSX Lion 10.7. If you are interested in Antivirus protection for on OSX in any way, I suggest a read of his guide.
